Welcoming European Energy at Gantner: FAT for the Grevekulla Project ⚡ Last week we hosted our partner European Energy at our headquarters for the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the new PPC & Server Cabinet built for the Grevekulla hybrid renewable energy park in Ydre municipality, Sweden.
Grevekulla is European Energy's second hybrid park in Sweden, combining an existing 36 MW wind park (6 turbines) with a new 38 MWp solar park. Co-locating wind and solar on one site maximises land use and grid efficiency thanks to the complementary production profiles of the two technologies, a strategic priority for European Energy's push in the Nordic renewables market.
Developed jointly by the European Energy and Gantner engineering teams, the cabinet is a new-generation, fully integrated PPC and server enclosure, and the largest and most complex PPC cabinet we have built to date. Rather than being tied to a fixed plant size, it is designed as a scalable platform for utility-scale hybrid projects, ready to grow with European Energy's pipeline all the way to gigawatt-scale deployments. It brings power plant control, server infrastructure, and communication technology into a single, highly accessible enclosure, setting a new benchmark for future European Energy projects.
One of the cabinet's key features is a built-in redundancy system for its critical components, providing backup and ensuring continuous operational reliability. This is essential for a hybrid park where wind and solar have to work as one coordinated system.
Why does a FAT matter so much to us? It is the moment where months of joint engineering stop being drawings and specifications and become real hardware you can stand in front of. Doing it together, face to face, means every control loop, every communication interface, and every cybersecurity behaviour is verified end-to-end under simulated plant conditions, and any question is answered on the spot, before a single component leaves our floor. That shared confidence is what a project like Grevekulla is built on.
A big thank you to our visiting European Energy team @Christian Q. H. Poulsen, @Romulo Caliri, and @Lucas Ribeiro Motta for the collaboration on site.
Thank you, European Energy, for the continued trust. On to Grevekulla.
