Tracking Functions

Gantner.TrackIQ offers a comprehensive set of intelligent tracking functions designed to maximize energy production and protect assets. From adaptive safety mechanisms to advanced backtracking and Agri-PV optimization, the system dynamically responds to environmental conditions and operational requirements.

Safety Functions

  • Wind, Storm
    • Adaptive tracking angles based on wind speed and direction
    • Static safety positions, configured individually for each plant
    • Maximizes PV production even in windy conditions, within defined limits
  • Snow
    • Adjustable tilt positions during snowfall (accounting for wind speed)
    • Static safety position that prevents snow build-up on the tracker
    • Maximizes PV production – clear panels stay ready to capture light
  • Hail protection
    • Moves out of the impact direction based on weather forecast
    • Reduces hail impact force to maximize PV module survivability
  • Flood
    • Reduces the maximum tilt angle when the flood sensor is active, preventing damage to the PV modules

Backtracking

  • Diffuse light / cloudy days
    • Definable tracker position based on weather forecast or irradiation sensors
    • On cloudy days, an optimized position between 0° (horizontal) and the sun angle captures as much diffuse light as possible
  • Standard tracking
    • Trackers follow the sun based on geolocation data and time of day
    • Maximizes PV production by keeping the optimal angle to the sun
  • 3D-Backtracking
    • Enables tightly spaced trackers while maintaining high production from sunrise to sunset
    • Using precise geolocation data for each tracker, the algorithm optimizes the angle of every tracker individually
    • Prevents mutual shading and increases overall production

Agri-PV Tracker

  • Harvest positions
    • Predefined positions can be activated via the app to enable harvesting and field access
  • Crop protection
    • Storms, heavy rain, hail and snow can harm crops – the tracker helps protect them within defined limits
  • Improvement of plant climate below the tracker
    • Too much or too little sun, too wet or too dry – climatic conditions change quickly, and Track.Bloxx helps improve the growing conditions for crops
    • When power production is not the priority, the tracker can increase or reduce shading to match crop needs (appropriate sensors and rules required)
    • Whether light or heavy rain, the tracker can let it through to the crops or shield them from it
