The 153 MW Ballymoneen Solar Farm in County Galway, Ireland, has been successfully commissioned. Despite challenging weather conditions and difficult ground circumstances, our service team completed the commissioning efficiently and on schedule.
The project was developed by Power Capital Renewable Energy, with Voltalia acting as the EPC contractor, and represents a significant contribution to Ireland’s renewable energy infrastructure.
As part of the commissioning scope, Gantner delivered a comprehensive solution covering power plant control, monitoring, communication, and cyber security:
- Q.reader Power Plant Controller (PPC) for grid-compliant plant control
- Local SCADA system for monitoring and operational management
- Gantner.meteo - the integrated weather solution for accurate environmental data acquisition
- Gantner.Cybersecurity network and firewall infrastructure to ensure secure plant communication
- Gantner.IQX for centralized monitoring, analytics, and remote access
This project once again demonstrates Gantner’s ability to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions for large-scale renewable energy plants – even under demanding site conditions.
